Artist Spotlight
Ericka Carranza
Ericka’s work aims to create creatures and beings that represent her own intertwined inner thoughts and desires. There’s always an aspect of “contradiction” in her work, and she strives to balance between living fantastical forms and shapely abstractions. Strange textures are a focal point of her art, because to her, they are synonymous with complicated emotions and feelings she is trying to present. At the same time, she also aims to create something visceral and enticing for the viewer, hoping to have them see and feel a part of themselves in her work. In terms of media, Ericka primarily uses acrylic, colored pencils, and her trustworthy mechanical pencil. She plans to continue making traditional art, and to collaborate with other creatives, such as writers and musicians, on new stories and ideas.
